How to Request Records

Most records maintained by public entities are open for inspection and/or copying by individuals. Commonly requested records include: Ordinances, Resolutions, Minutes from Open Meetings, Salaries of Public Officials, and Budgets.

Step 1

Please be specific when requesting information so City staff can respond accurately and thoroughly.

Step 2

Please submit requests in writing, as required by State of Kansas law. You may use the Open Records Request Form available or your preferred form, such as a letter or email. Please make sure your request is as specific as possible so that the response is accurate and thorough. City staff may ask questions to gain a better understanding of the request.

Step 3

Most records will be produced within a maximum of three business days from the time the request is received. If the request is delayed or denied, a written explanation will be provided.
