Reinvest Wichita provides current information on federal funding
Citizens can now access the City of Wichita Web site to find out about federal stimulus funds being allocated to Wichita projects. Reinvest Wichita, the newest addition to www.wichita.gov, was developed to keep citizens informed about funds that have been approved or have the possibility of being approved for Wichita projects.
“The goals of Reinvest Wichita are accountability, transparency and sound stewardship of taxpayer dollars,” Wichita Mayor Carl Brewer said. “The City of Wichita wants to make certain that each and every dollar received is spent on projects which put residents to work, spurs economic recovery and serves the needs and goals of our community.”
Federal funding for eligible projects is being provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The Act is designed to provide funding for job creation, computerizing health records, reviving the renewable energy industry, weatherizing commercial and residential structures, increasing college affordability and investing in new infrastructure.
