Crime Trends and Problems

Near the intersection on Kansas and McFarland, we have had a problem with vehicles racing, cars blocking the street, vehicles being worked on, and blight issues. We will be doing enforcement in that area to reduce these problems.

Residential Burglaries have increased recently. We will be doing more patrols and monitoring of areas that have gotten multiple burglaries.

Drug activity and problems associated with drugs has been reported in the 2400 block of N. Green We will be monitoring this area and addressing the drug activity.

Recently, we have had two sets of teenage gang members meeting to fight. Usually one group will arrive first and the other will arrive shortly after that. The fights normally do not occur, but one group fires guns at the other group. If you see teenagers congregating quickly in an area you normally do not see them congregate and it appears something is going to happen or they might be waiting for something, please call 911 and advise us of what is happening. We might be able to stop a shooting before one occurs.

Traffic Issues

Speeding on North Grove between 21st St. and 25th St. has become a noticeable problem. We will be doing enforcement in this area to reduce the number of speeders and the speed.

As school starts back in session, please slow down for school zones and when see children. Children sometimes do not realize drivers cannot see them and cars cannot stop quickly.

Speeding will be enforced along Opportunity Drive, near TOPS and The Boy and Girls Club.
