The Arkansas River Path is the longest and most popular bicycle path in Wichita, extending approximately 22.5 kilometers along the banks of the Big Arkansas River from 21st Street North to Galena Street on the south (near MacArthur). The 22.5 kilometers of path includes a 1.6 kilometer bicycle path along the west side of the Arkansas River built by previous Transportation Enhancement funds received by Wichita.

The natural beauty of the Arkansas River as it flows though Wichita is showcased by this path. Convenient access to Sim, Oak and Riverside Parks and such attractions as Old Cowtown Museum, Wichita Art Museum, the new Exploration Place, Lawrence-Dumont Stadium, Wichita Ice Center and Riverside Zoo stem from the River Paths. One can enjoy boating, fishing, pony rides, train rides and miniature golf at O.J. Watson Park near the end of the path.

This path has been enhanced by adding a new path on the west bank of the Arkansas River adjacent to McLean Boulevard from Seneca Street to 13th Street North. This new path connects to an existing bicycle path in Sims Park via a new bicycle/pedestrian bridge located near the intersection of Central and McLean Boulevard.

The Arkansas River Path, at its northernmost point, connects to a bicycle lane on Westdale Drive where it connects to Zoo Boulevard and ends at the intersection of 21st Street North and Ridge Road. This three-mile extension of the River path provides access to the Sedgwick County Zoo and the bicycle paths located in Sedgwick County Park.
