 The WHA has 578 dwelling units located throughout the Wichita city limits consisting of single-family dwellings, high-rise apartments and patio complexes. Bedroom sizes range from one to six.

The City of Wichita Housing Authority provides city-owned rental properties to low-to-moderate income individuals and families. Rent is based upon 30% of a household's adjusted gross income or a flat market rent.
Public Housing has 578 dwelling units located throughout the Wichita city limits that include:
- 352 single family dwellings
- 226 apartment units
The number of families currently on the waiting list for low-to-moderate income families is 1,100. The application process has been closed since May 29, 1998, except for individuals aged 50 and over, households with four or more family members, and disabled head of households.

The Public Housing Division also receives a Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Capital Fund Grant, which is used to improve the physical condition of public housing properties and to upgrade the management and operations of the Division to better serve public housing tenants.
