Coleman Middle School

Hello, I am Officer Michael Roets, your Coleman Middle School Resource Officer.

I have served as a proud member of the Wichita Police Department since 1996. I worked second shift patrol as a beat officer in Patrol South Bureau until 2000 when I was assigned to the Patrol South Community Policing Unit. I moved to North Patrol in 2004 for the Coleman SRO position. Some of my specialized training includes Bicycle Patrol and Mounted Patrol certifications; I have had a lot of fun contacting people while riding my Police Horse "Jake". Besides horseback riding I enjoy the lake, riding my Harley and spending time with my family.

I am looking forward to being your SRO at Coleman for another year. I am going to work hard to provide a safe learning environment for your students while working with teachers and staff to educate students on law related topics. Recently I was one of several officers who were certified to teach G.R.E.A.T. (Gang Resistance, Education and Training). The G.R.E.A.T. Program is a school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom curriculum. The program’s primary objective is prevention in the areas of delinquency, youth violence, and gang involvement while also fostering a positive relationship among law enforcement, families, and young people to create a safer community.

Thank you for the opportunity to be your SRO.
