The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) National Weather Service urge Americans to "Be Air Aware" during Air Quality Awareness Week, April 28 - May 2, 2008.
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the air quality departments of the Shawnee County Health Agency, City of Wichita Department of Environmental Services, Unified Government of Kansas City, KS, and Johnson County Environmental Department have partnered to increase air quality awareness. During this week we want our fellow coworkers and partners to know how much we appreciate what you already do to maintain the quality of the air we breathe and reacquaint you with information we all need to keep it clean.
How can you be "Air Aware" in Wichita? Check out the following resources:
Cleaner Air and Greenhouse Gas Reduction
We all share responsibility for the quality of our air. Any time we use energy in the form of gasoline, diesel, or electricity we contribute to air pollution in our communities and communities downwind of us. Many of the things we can do to improve our air quality also reduce green- house gases, like carbon dioxide (CO2). These simple choices also save time, energy, and money. Please visit the Bureau and Air and Radiation Web site for a list of suggested actions.
