The City of Wichita Environmental Services Department is very pleased that the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) is now providing easy access to inspection information on their new website for state food service establishments. ~~~Kay Johnson, Environmental Services Director.

The City’s Environmental Services' Food Safety and Protection Division is contracted by KDHE to conduct these inspections in the City and throughout Sedgwick County.
“Our department has provided the county with food inspection services for many years. In the past we had to publicly display the rating system for restaurants, but discontinued it, at KDHE’s request; because it did not fit well with a new comprehensive inspection program that was instituted by KDHE. We did as they asked, but there was a noticeable gap with regard to public awareness and an establishment’s compliance with the state’s food program. This gap is now filled with more complete information, as it is specific to the violation. This will be a great tool for us, the public and, of course, the media," stated Johnson.
City of Wichita Environmental Services staff are now able to answer questions about the website and its use. Environmental Services will continue to take complaint information at (316) 268-8351, as in the past.
