Wichita Housing Advisory Board
The Wichita Housing Advisory Board was created by Ordinance No. 44-846 in January, 2001, to be advisory to the City Council and the City Manager. The purpose of the board is to provide advice and recommendations to the City Manager and City Council on all matters of policy concerning housing. Such issues shall include, but not be limited to: strategic and long range planning relating to housing issues, housing conditions, the need and availability of affordable housing, rental assistance programs, credit counseling programs, CHDO and other not-for-profit development, neighborhood revitalization, housing rehabilitation, homelessness, fair housing, public/private housing development, customer and tenant satisfaction and available financial assistance programs.
The board membership shall consist of not more than eleven members to be appointed by the mayor with the approval of the City Council, and the composition is defined by Ordinance No. 46-207, to include representatives of the following fields: housing developer/contractor, property management, residential lending or financial institution, Board of Realtors, Wichita landlord association, architect/engineer, the Community Council on Homeless Advocacy, and two tenants receiving Public Housing or Section 8 assistance from the City of Wichita. Remaining board members shall be nominated at large and will have demonstrable working knowledge of housing issues.

The Housing Advisory Board meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 2:00 PM, at the Housing and Community Services Department office at 332 N. Riverview. Occasionally meetings are cancelled due to scheduling or agenda conflicts. The public is encouraged to call (316) 462-3775 prior to a particular meeting date, to ensure that the meeting will be held as scheduled.
Minutes will be posted to this site after they are approved by the board.
