Mission Statement The mission of the Law Department is to facilitate client success through the provision of high quality legal services and guidance to the City Council, City Manager, and the departments, boards, agencies, utilities and commission of the City. Overview The Law Department has three main functions: Provide legal counsel for City Council and staff. Provide legal representation for the City. Prosecute cases in Municipal Court. These activities are accomplished through a staff of sixteen attorneys and seven support staff. Staff is divided into two areas: prosecutorial staff and civil legal staff. Prosecutorial staff maintain office hours to assist "walk-in" citizens in addition to prosecuting Municipal Court dockets. Civil legal staff perform a variety of roles: providing legal advice; drafting and reviewing contracts; rendering legal opinions; and conducting litigation for the City. News & Notices
