Prosecutor's Office
 Prosecution examining a witness during a mock trial. | One of the Department of Law's core functions is prosecuting offenders in Municipal Court. This is accomplished through a staff of six, led by a prosecution supervisor. In addition, the Prosecution Supervisor provides legal counsel and opinions to the Police Department and assists in reviewing cases. The Diversion Coordinator is also included in the prosecution area.
Based on the current docket structure, prosecutors represent the City on 33 Municipal Court dockets as well as maintain office hours to assist citizens on a walk-in basis. In addition, prosecutors engage in case review prior to the beginning of the dockets.
The City Prosecutor's Office is located on the 2nd Floor of City Hall at 455 N. Main, Wichita, Kansas. Walk-in office hours are 3 - 5 PM, Monday through Friday. The phone number is (316) 268-4569.
Several diversion and deferred judgment programs are offered by the City Prosecutor's Office. These programs are available for eligible first-time offenders and require that certain conditions are met.
