Judge Bruce Brown was born in Wichita and grew up on a farm in central Kansas. He attended college at Oral Roberts University, in Tulsa Oklahoma. Judge Brown then graduated from the Pepperdine University School of Law in 1986. He was admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association in 1986 and the Kansas Bar Association in 1989.
Judge Bruce Brown served on active duty with the U.S. Army as a JAG officer for 4 years and was deployed to Kuwait. He has continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserves and now holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Bruce Brown currently serves as Judge for Wichita Municipal court where he has served as a Judicial officer for over 10 years. In his tenure as Judge he has presided over the Traffic court, the DUI court, and is currently assigned to the Domestic Violence court.
Judge Brown is an alumnus of the National Judicial College (NJC) in Reno, Nevada, having received his "Certificate in Judicial Development Special Court Trial Skills" from the College in 2007. He has completed courses with the NJC in General Jurisdiction, Evidence, Advance Evidence, Sentencing Traffic Offenders, Domestic Violence, Ethics, Small Claims, and Logic and Opinion Writing.
Judge Brown currently serves on the board of Youth Horizons, a non-profit organization to benefit at-risk children in the Wichita Community. Judge Brown has been an active mentor to at-risk youth through Youth Horizons for over 10 years. He is also a member of the National Adjudicature Society, Kansas Bar Association, Wichita Bar Association and the Wichita Christian Legal Society.
Judge Bruce Brown married his wife, Rachel, in 2000 and they have three children: Asher, Lucy, and Macy; and a bulldog named Brunhilda. He and his wife are both avid runners and are very active in their church.
