The administrative section is responsible for writing all trade permits, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, elevator and sign permits. They also maintain records on all the licensed contractors.
The City of Wichita requires that permits be issued to licensed contractors. Licenses are renewed on an annual basis starting September 1 and going through January 31 of each year without penalties.
After January 31, penalties are assessed in different amounts depending on the type of license, and applied to the renewal fee for late renewals. Each contractor must have a qualified person sign the license application. The qualified person is someone who has passed the applicable test, be an owner or full time employee of the company, and meets the requirements of the applicable City Code.
Attention Contractor License Applicants!
All new contractor license applications, name changes, reorganizations, and requests for a second license, must all go before the Board of Code Standards and Appeals (BCSA) as required by Wichita City Ordinance, 18.12.130.
The BCSA meets the 1st Monday of each month, unless there is a holiday. The deadline for applications to be on the Board’s agenda is by Thursday, 10 business days prior to the Board meeting.
