All construction or work for which a permit is required shall be subject to inspection by Central Inspection. It is the responsibility of the building inspector to conduct all required inspections and approve the building for occupancy. How can I contact my Inspector?

All inspectors are generally in the office from 7:30 AM to 8:00. All inspectors have cell phones and their phone numbers are available on E*permit.
The permit holder or an agent of the permit holder must notify the Office of Central Inspection when the work is ready for an inspection.
Setbacks and footing and pier inspections:To be made after the excavation is complete, all forms are in place, all reinforcing steel is in place and before any concrete is poured.
Foundation and/or basement wall inspection:To be made after all forms are in place, all reinforcing steel is in place and before concrete is poured.
Slab-on-grade inspection:A pre-slab concrete pour inspection in required to allow the building inspectors to check and verify under-slab material placement and the required minimum steel reinforcement placement/installation.
Framing inspection:To be made after the roof, all framing, fire-blocking, and bracing are in place and the electrical, plumbing and mechanical rough inspections have been approved.
Gypsum board inspection:For rated assemblies, to be made after all gypsum board, interior and exterior, is in place, but before any joints or fasteners are taped and finished.
Final inspection:
Commercial: To be made after the final electrical, plumbing, HVAC and fire inspections are approved, finished grade, required landscaping and building are completed, and before the building is occupied.
Residential: To be made after the final electrical. The permit holder may request final inspection on all other areas of the project at the same time. Speak with your inspector to find out what inspections can be done at the final inspection.
Other inspections:In addition to these inspections, the owner, engineer or architect of record acting as the owners agent, may be required to employ one or more special inspectors for continuous or periodic inspections for certain types of work on large commercial projects.
Accepted Standards:In addition to the requirements in the building code, the following standards have been reviewed and are acceptable.
Contractors are requested to use E*permit, our online inspection and permitting system, or (TELUS) the automated inspection requesting system. This can be done by telephone by dialing (316) 337-9111. Both systema are available 24 hours a day, including weekends, for requesting or checking the results of inspections. Contractors using either of these options can schedule inspections for the next day or same day if they schedule before 6:30 AM.

A fee of $30.00 will be charges to the permit holder if:
The work for which an inspection is requested is not ready for inspection.
Required corrections have not been completed.
The inspection record card is not on site at the time of the inspection.
The site is not accessible for inspection.
In instances where reinspection fees have been assessed, no additional inspections will be performed until the required fees have been paid.
