Residential Building Permits

The permit desk staff is responsible for writing all residential permits, roofing/siding permits, demolition permits, miscellaneous permits, assigning/changing addresses, logging in commercial plans, and issuing commercial permits.

What is required to apply for a residential building permit?

One and two family dwellings and all associated accessory structures are considered residential structures, and require the following items to be submitted for a permit.

  1. Residential Construction Permit Application

  2. Residential Permit Plot Plan - to scale on 8.5" x 11" paper

  3. Legal description

  4. Tax key Number

How long does it take to get a residential permit?

If all the information is brought with you, normally permits can be issued while you wait. Plan review is not required for residential permits.
