Additional Aquatic Classes and Programs
Registration for the following Aquatics Programs must be done at the pool site. Every pool will offer these classes. Classes will be held only if enrollment is sufficient. Parent & Tot Aquatics Fee is per pair (1 parent and 1 tot) American Red Cross water orientation classes for children age 1-5 and their parent. This class allows one parent to assist instructor in teaching both in and out of the water. A good class environment for the very young student. Parents may be non-swimmers, as they will remain in the shallow water under watchful eyes of the instructor. Please visit the pool in your area to receive more detailed information on this class. Competitive Swimming Fee is for 8-wks/1-hour practices Tue-Fri This program is designed for the recreational swimmer. Stroke development and teamwork are emphasized. Beginning swimmers are encouraged to enroll. Must be able to swim 25-yards. Offered at all pools. Practices are typically held Tuesday-Friday for ten weeks from 12:00-1:00 pm. Practice times may vary depending on the number of swimmers on a team. Four swim meets will be held during the hours of approximately 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 pm. Get more information on Competitive Swimming Guard Start - Lifeguarding for Tomorrow Fee is per session Do you want to get ready for an exciting career as a lifeguard? Designed for youth ages 11 to 14, American Red Cross Guardstart: Lifeguarding Tomorrow provides a foundation of lifeguarding and life skills. For youth with swimming skills, this program makes an ideal transition between Red Cross Learn-to-Swim and the Lifeguard Training Course. GuardStart focuses on five key areas: Prevention of aquatic accidents Fitness and swimming skills Response in an emergency Leadership skills Professionalism as a lifeguard Offered sessions 1 and 3 only at College Hill and Harvest pools. Adult Aqua Aerobics Fee is for 1-hour, 2 days a week for 4 weeks Age: 16 and above Class Size: Minimum 6 An increasingly popular form of exercise, which is easier on joints than land based exercise. Participants can exercise at their personal fitness level. The program includes stretching, 20 to 30 minutes of aerobics, and 25 minutes of upper and lower body muscular conditioning. Please note, it is not necessary to get your hair wet. Lap Swimming for Adults Fee is for season lap swim pass Age: 16 and above Lap swimming is a highly effective aerobic exercise that burns body fat and increases muscle tone while enhancing cardiovascular fitness. This program is usually offered at College Hill, Tuesday-Friday, from 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Also held at Edgemoor Tuesday - Saturday from noon- 1:00 p.m. Adult Swimming Lessons Fee is for 45 minutes per day for 8 days (Tue-Fri) Beginner level swimming lessons for adults may be offered at any pool if enrollment is sufficient.
