Swim team for ages 5-17 is offered at all 11 city pools. The fee is only $50 for the entire summer! Sufficient enrollment is required in order for the pool to actually have a team. The program is geared towards the beginner swimmer and is recreational in nature. Swimmers must be able to swim at least 25 meters unassisted.
Practices will be held Tuesday-Friday for eight weeks typically from Noon to 1:00pm. Practice times may vary depending on the number of swimmers on a team. Four swim meets will be held throughout the summer at different city pools. The 8 & Under and 9-10 year old age groups will swim in the morning session starting at 10:00am. Ages 11-12, 13-14, and 15-17 will swim the afternoon session from approximately 12:30pm-4:45pm. Warm up for the first session will begin at 9:45am and warm up for the second session will begin 15 minutes prior to the start of the session. Meet Dates for 2009 are as follows:
- June 17, 2009 - Aley
- July 1, 2009 - Orchard
- July 15, 2009 - Linwood
- July 29, 2009 - McAdams (Championship Meet)
Registration for swim team must be done at the pool beginning May 30 when the pool opens. Registration will continue to be taken until the second swim meet (July 1, 2009).
Swimmers must attend an average of two practices per week in order to be eligible to swim in the meets. This allows for family vacation time or other extracurricular activities during the summer.
