Wichita has an on-street bicycle route system
that stretches over 100 miles. In addition, Wichita and Sedgwick County (adjacent to the city limits) have several options for off-street bicycling. There are over 26 miles of bicycle paths following scenic areas such as the banks of the Arkansas River, giving the cyclist a safe, easy and enjoyable ride. A short description of each facility follows:
On-Street Bicycle
These bicycle routes were specially selected on the basis of access to points of interest and low traffic volumes. By using the maps provided here, a bicyclist can enjoy an outing almost anywhere in the City. In the interest of safety, one should use the sidewalk when riding on a busy street (except in the Central Business District where it is illegal).
