Bicycle Skill and Safety Course

During 1977, the Wichita Police Department and Wichita Board of Education established the Police Liaison Program in the local schools. One of the major functions of this program has been bicycle safety education. The Bicycle Skill and Safety Course was specifically developed to complement classroom instruction. The purpose of the facility is to equip local youth in basic bicycle driving skills to ride safely on our city streets.

The classroom instruction and skill course facility constitutes an ongoing program during the school year. In addition, the School Liaison Office can be contacted at 268-4207. When classes are not using the course, the facility, which was designed for self-instructional use, is open to the public. Easy to understand, step-by-step directions at the starting point and at various points along the course make it ideal for individual or family use.
