The purpose of this Plan is to enhance safety and livabililty along the East Douglas corridor (Washington to Glendale) while promoting economic vitality and streetscape beautification.
Last spring, representatives from the Douglas Design District met with City Council members and Wichita-Sedgwick County Metropolitan Area Planning Department (MAPD) staff and requested that the City assist them in developing a streetscape improvement plan.
By September, Wichita’s Interim City Manager, Scott Moore, invited key stakeholders to serve on a Steering Committee that would identify a preferred direction and assist in the development of a streetscape improvement plan. The MAPD is facilitating the Steering Committee through the planning process. The Steering Committee is comprised of the following representatives:
