Final designs for the Nomar International Market building and plaza will be presented to the District VI Advisory Board at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 1 at Evergreen Recreation Center, 2700 N. Woodland. Earlier this week, the City of Wichita Design Council approved designs for the market, located on 21st Street North between Market and Broadway.
“This is the last step in the design process,” said Lesa Lank, redevelopment project coordinator for the City of Wichita. “Next we will develop construction documents and bid the project.”
The Market is expected to be completed by May 2010 and construction dates will be coordinated with the road project schedule.
The Market will include a multi-use plaza and a 1,000-square-foot building with office space, public restrooms and an outdoor covered patio. It will be operated by the NOMAR Community Development Corporation (CDC) as an outdoor cultural market and entertainment venue.
The project budget is $750,000, which is for the building, the plaza, and the streetscape. The building is estimated to cost $250,000.
