Hello, I am Officer Anthony Bamberger. I have been with the Wichita Police Department since 1993. I am currently assigned to Stucky Middle School as the School Resource Officer (SRO). In the past, I have been assigned to the DUI task force in the traffic section. I have also worked patrol at Patrol West and Patrol South. As a patrol officer I was assigned to a beat and answered 911 calls. I was accepted as a Field Training Officer (FTO) and trained the new officers in patrol once they graduated from the Police Academy. I worked as a Community Policing Officer in Patrol South for several years working with many community businesses, and goverment organizations to make Wichita a better place to live. One thing I am proud of is that during my time as a community police officer I was selected to be on the Steering Committee for the USD 259 bond issue which helped get the funds to build Stucky Middle School. Recently, I was accepted in investigations on a rotation from patrol. While in investigations, I worked in the Larceny section investigating theft cases. I am a certified state instuctor in the Crime Free Multi- Housing program, I am also bicycle certified, RADAR certified, Intoxilizer 5000 certified, and I am an assistant Range Master for the Wichita Police Department.
I am excited to be able to work with the students and the staff of Stucky this year. The SRO position is designed to be an educator, counselor, mentor, as well as a law enforcement officer. The SRO teaches classes as well as tries to build relationships with the students to help them grow into produtive citizens. I am here to help ensure a safe learning environment for all the students at Stucky Middle School. |
