Larceny From Automobiles
There were several reports of items being taken from vehicles on private and public property on 19 Beat last month.  many of these crimes could have been prevented by taking valuables inside and putting shopping bags in the trunk of your car.  If a suspect doesn't see anything worth taking they won't break into your car.

Residential Burglaries
There were 12 Residential Burglaries Reported in July.  Suspects entered the open garage door and took property from inside the garage.  In one case the vehicle was taken from inside the garage.
most of these burglaries could have been prevented by closing the garage door when the residents weren't outside.  Please remember to close the garage door even during daylight hours.

Please remember these Tips to prevent yourself from being a victim of a crime of opportunity.
  1. Close garage doors (even in daylight hours) and remember to lock all exterior doors and windows on the garage!
  2. Don't place your garage door opener for your car in plain site.  Many Burglars will steal these from inside your car and come back later when you aren't home!
  3. Make sure the lighting on the exterior of your house is bright and motion sensor lights are ideal.
  4. Keep car keys inside the house not inside your vehile, don't make it easy for someone to drive off in your car, even if you keep it in the garage!
  5. Please stop and tell your neighbor if their garage door is left open, good communication is key to preventing crimes of opportunity.
