Administrative-Services Bureau

The Administrative-Services Bureau is part of the Support-Services Division and is located on the fourth floor of City Hall.  The Bureau is made up of the Information-Services Unit, the Community- Affairs Section, the School-Liaison Unit, the Fiscal-Affairs Section, and the Court-Liaison Section.

The Community-Affairs Section's mission is to assist in lowering the crime rate by educating the public on how to solve problems in their neighborhoods and to further police-community relations in the city of Wichita.  The mission is pursued through a series of programs and activites conducted in the community that focus on crime-prevention techniques that are proactive and risk-reduction oriented.  The Community-Affairs Section also includes the Crime-Prevention Unit and the Neighborhood-Watch Officer.

The Warrant Office works with Muncipal Court and other local, state, and federal agencies to ensure that court documents are served in a timely manner.

The School-Liaison Unit is a part of the Community-Affairs Section.  Its mission is to provide law-related education and substance-abuse-prevention information to students so that the school community is safer, with better informed  and more responsible staff and students.

The Information-Services Unit serves as a support unit by providing statistical data (crime statistics), conducting research on current topics, and analyzing crime trends for members of the Department on issues that are affecting, impacting, or could affect Police operations.  In addition, the Unit maintains the Department's Internet and Intranet sites, along with updating and servicing the mobile-computer-terminals in patrol vehicles.

The mission of the Fiscal-Affairs Section is to provide staff members with tools and information to effectively facilitate planned use and managerial control of the financial resources of the Department.  The Section administers the budget and sees that all employees receive paychecks.

The Court-Liaison Section serves as a means of communication between the courts and Department personnel, providing all assistance necessary to ensure that officers and others who have been subpoenaed make their scheduled appearances.  Section members ensure that only persons whose testimony will be needed are actually brought into court.
