The Information Services Unit serves as a support unit for all members of the Department. The section's primary emphasis being directed toward providing the Chief and his/her staff with accurate and timely research data on any assigned project. This includes statistical, informational, analytical, or other types of reports.
The Information Services Unit has the responsibility of updating both confidential and non-confidential Departmental documents that are vital to the functioning of the Department. The Information Services Unit maintains and updates Departmental statistical information.
In addition, the Information Services Unit has the responsibility of responding to questionnaires, surveys and request for information from law enforcement agencies, research groups, news media, and individual citizens.
The Crime Analysis function of the Information Services Unit is responsible to provide comprehensive pertinent and statistical information such as reported crime statistics, arrest statistics, call load, and response time statistics. Crime Analysis collects and analyzes statistical information and trend correlations to assist operational and administrative personnel in planning and deployment of resources for the prevention and suppression of criminal activities.
