Here is a list of materials that can be accepted/not accepted at Brooks Construction & Demolition Waste Landfill. Acceptable Material Friable asbestos Bricks Concrete Other masonry material Roofing materials - may contain non-friable asbestos, but follow proper handling guide Soil Rock Wood Wood products Wall or floor coverings – may contain non-friable asbestos, but follow proper handling guide. Plaster Drywall Plumbing fixtures Furniture Appliances Electrical wiring Electrical components – containing no hazardous materials Non-asbestos insulation Construction-related packaging Wooden pallets Street sweepings – must have any litter removed Floor tile - may contain non-friable asbestos, but follow proper handling guide Siding - may contain non-friable asbestos, but follow proper handling guide Trees Metal scrap – e.g. tie strapping Treated wood from demolition projects Railroad ties (if more than 500, KDHE must be contacted) Utility poles (if more than 500, KDHE must be contacted) Dry mud trap solids – from commercial car washes only and must pass the paint filter test (EPA method SW 846/9095). Nonacceptable Material Garbage Electrical equipment containing hazardous materials Tires – whole or in pieces or bailed Drums and containers – even if they result from construction or demolition activities Mud trap wastes from any business other than commercial car washes Treated wood from industrial sources that has been painted, varnished, stained, etc. Back to Top
