Parcels Acquired for Highway - Reversionary Rights (Quit Claim only) and KDOT/Federal InvolvementThe following tracts were acquired specifically for highway right-of-way. This means that ownership reverts to the prior owner unless the prior owner’s rights are acquired. As these tracts were acquired well in the past, the prior owners normally cannot be located, thus requiring an eminent domain action to clear title. In addition, there was KDOT or Federal participation in the acquisition of these tracts. This means that any sale must be preapproved by KDOT. In addition, any sales proceeds must be split with KDOT in the same ratio as the original acquisition. Normally, KDOT will get 70% to 85% of the proceeds.
