The Board of Zoning Appeals is a group of five volunteer members appointed by the Sedgwick County Board of Commissioners to review requests for variances and exceptions of the specific requirements of the zoning code and appeals from the zoning administrator’s interpretation of the zoning code. A variance is a deviation from a specific requirement of the zoning code, such as side yard setback, building height, number of parking spaces, etc.

If there are any cases filed by applicant(s), the COBZA meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 3:30 PM in the County Commission Meeting Room, 3rd Floor, Sedgwick County Courthouse, 525 N. Main St., Wichita, Kansas. Meetings of the COBZA are public hearings and visitors are welcome.
