Information on where to park downtown

There are a number of events taking place at Century II and INTRUST Bank Arena on Wednesday. Elton John and Billy Joel will be performing their “Face to Face” tour at the Arena. All of the City-owned parking lots will be available; parking in Lots A-D will be $8. Additional City-operated lots will be available for various prices. Wichita Transit buses will provide shuttle service from Lawrence Dumont to the Arena both before and after the event. The buses load on Sycamore Street to the west of the stadium.

The annual Wichita Garden Show and the Theater League’s musical performance “Rain: A Tribute to the Beatles” will be taking place at Century II. All of the parking near Century II will be available at various rates including some free parking. The Garden Show is providing shuttle service to and from Lawrence Dumont Stadium through Ivan’s Party Bus. Rain attendees can take the Q-Line to and from Lawrence Dumont Stadium.

The official Downtown Wichita parking Web site, www.parkdowntown.org, provides residents with additional information about the location of the lots which are available. Visit the “EVENTS” tab and click on your event for more information on which lots are available. The Wichita Transit service will also provide the standard Q-Line services. One trolley will run the regular route from 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. and will service the Lawrence-Dumont and Exploration Place parking lots. More information on the route and official stops can also be found at www.parkdowntown.org. There will be no street closures for Wednesday’s events.

There is also a new mobile version of the downtown parking map that is accessible through touchscreen-enabled phones with no downloads needed. The Web address is the same, www.parkdowntown.org, but the mobile map is designed to fit on a cell phone screen. If you are driving and need to access this Web site, please pull over and turn off your vehicle, or ask your passengers to pull up the information.
