Children ages 6-15 invited to CityArts for creative fun
CityArts is hosting two Spring Break Art Days from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 16-17 for children ages 6-15. Parents may register their children in one or both sessions online at wichitaarts.com or by calling 316-462-2787. Registration is $25 per class. CityArts is located at 334 N. Mead.
The theme for the March 16 Spring Break Art Day is “Big Sounds Around.” Throughout the day, children will create art that can be played as instruments. The completed pieces will not only look beautiful, but sound beautiful, too.
On March 17, Spring Break Art Day participants will focus on “Art to Go!” which combines science/technology with art. The class will be taught by special guest instructor, Tom McGuire. He is a local engineer and artist who specializes in kinetic sculpture. Kids will have a great time making art that moves in ways they never thought possible.
For each class, children will need paint and play clothes and a sack lunch.
CityArts is a center for the arts that provides education, information and opportunities to the citizens, youth and special populations in the community. In addition to rotating art exhibits which are housed in its four galleries, CityArts offers classes for both children and adults in such areas as digital photography, computer arts, painting, drawing, pottery, silversmithing, fiber and glass arts. Registration for all of CityArts’ Spring 2010 art classes that start this month is going on now.
