Wichitans can help raise awareness about fighting crime by celebrating National Night Out 2010. The annual event begins Friday with a party in Old Town Square and culminates on Tuesday with neighborhood block parties across the city.
Billed as “America’s Night Out Against Crime,” National Night Out features several activities. It kicks off with the Friday party at Old Town’s Farm and Art Market (835 E. 1st), sponsored by KEYN Radio. It will feature the band, “Big Fat Fun,” and will include an information tent to answer questions about events. Other events include:
- National Night Out with the NBC Tournament on Saturday at Lawrence Dumont Stadium. There will be a fireworks show after the feature game, sponsored by Meritrust Credit Union.
- Family Zoo Day at the Sedgwick County Zoo on Sunday sponsored by radio stations KFDI, KLIO, KICT-95, 104.5 Fox, KFTI & KYQQ and Sedgwick County Zoo. Visitors will receive $3 off the general admission price.
- Neighborhood block parties across the city will take place on Tuesday, beginning at various times.
