Questionnaires are being mailed this week to a random sample of 3,000 Wichita households, asking for feedback on the quality of City of Wichita services.
Survey results, which will be provided in September, can be used to help guide future service decisions. Sample questions include:
- Please rate how safe or unsafe you feel in Wichita.
- What is the one thing the City of Wichita could do to improve your neighborhood?
- What impact do you feel the economy will have on your family income in the next six months?
Wichita is one of many American cities participating in the National Citizen Survey (NCS), a collaboration of the National Research Center and the International City/County Management Association. Scientific sampling and weighting of the responses in each city ensures accurate and reliable results. Each city's survey is developed using a standard template, and many cities can be surveyed at one time. The NCS, now in its 10th year, has been used by more than 200 municipalities in 42 states. Wichita last engaged NCS in 2006. Results from the 2010 survey will be compared to 2006 data to better gauge improvements.
