A regional household travel survey, conducted by ETC Institute on behalf of the Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO), will begin on August 1, 2010. The purpose of the survey is to gather data on travel patterns and transportation priorities for residents in the WAMPO region.
During the next three months, a large number of households throughout the region will be contacted to volunteer and participate in the survey. Households participating in the survey will complete a transportation preference survey and receive a one day travel diary for each household member. Each member of the household will be asked to write down the details about every time they travel during a single day.
The results of the survey will be used by WAMPO and elected officials to provide a better understanding of how, when and where people travel in this region. The data will be used to better plan future transportation projects. All information collected is confidential. Individual responses will not be released.
The Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (WAMPO) is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) whose study area includes all of Sedgwick County; extends into Butler County, including all of Andover; and extends into Sumner County, including all of Mulvane. WAMPO is responsible for regional, multimodal transportation planning for this area and administers federal transportation funds for projects within the region.
