The Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff will be held in the 500 and 600 block of East Douglas Street, between Emporia and the railroad tracks.
The Wichita Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff was formed by a group of civic-minded business executives with a single purpose: To promote and sell the good life in Wichita. And a good life requires chili!
Wagonmasters Downtown Chili Cookoff - event is for chili fans of all ages! Thousands of tasters line up on Douglas to get their fill of chili. Come join the fun, live music, kid games and GREAT chili! Our recipe for success? 27 years in the heart of downtown Wichita, 50+ teams preparing chili, providing samples and having fun and over 6,000 hungry chili lovers.
“We have teams from Oklahoma, Illinois and Iowa coming to compete, we also have another team that is going to feature a South American twist to chili, and a team that is planning on featuring spooky effects for their booth,” said Ann Keefer, Wichita Downtown Development Corporation.
In addition to great chili, we will have live music from the Mudbugs playing the finest Cajun & Zydeco music in the Midwest, Guy Bower from the Good Life (KNSS radio) will be the Chili Potentate, a new contest for the kids -Sauce Shoot-Off, face painting and free ice cream while supplies last!
The Wichita Wagonmaters Downtown Chili Cookoff Saturday, September, 25 starting at noon, tasting kits are $5.00 each.
