12/10/2010
Denise Peters, City Project Manager | DPeters@wichita.gov | (303) 254-4341

The City of Wichita Public Works and Utilities Department will hold a community planning meeting from 6:30- 8:30 p.m., Thursday at the Midtown Community Resource Center, 1150 N. Broadway. The public is invited to come learn about two master planning efforts for the historic Midtown neighborhood. They will also have the opportunity to provide input about several issues affecting the quality of life for that neighborhood. Topics to be discussed are storm water – flooding, drainage and water quality; traffic; streetscaping/lighting; pedestrian safety and mobility; and parking.

Boundaries for the study are Murdock Street, Santa Fe Street, 18th Street and the Little Arkansas River.

This will be the first of three community meetings designed to seek ideas about priorities in the Midtown neighborhood for the coming years. The next two meetings will be announced in January. The master plans are expected to be complete by next summer.

The City of Wichita Public Works and Utilities Department provides for the design, construction, maintenance and cleaning of the city’s streets, roads, sidewalks and traffic control devices; maintenance and custodial services for city buildings; and natural resource conservation.
