Disrupted water service for businesses and residents in the area of Douglas and Seneca is expected to be restored on Friday, said Public Works & Utilities officials.
“The repairs require pouring concrete and crews cannot do that before tomorrow morning,” Joe Pajor of Public Works & Utilities, said.
The disrupted water service is the result of an early-morning water main break on Douglas and east of Seneca. The main break also affected traffic and motorists are being asked to avoid the area.
Public Works crews will deliver water to affected businesses and residents if necessary, Pajor said.
The main break created a sizable sinkhole near the intersection of Douglas and Handley; traffic is limited east of Handley on Douglas and on Handley south of Douglas.
The cause of the break is a connection failure between a 12-inch main and a 24-inch main. Cost for repairs is not known at this time.
