Water service to businesses and residents in the area east of Douglas and Seneca has been restored, the Department of Public Works & Utilities announced Friday morning.
Service had been disrupted Thursday following an early-morning water main break.
The main break undermined the pavement near the intersection of Douglas and Handley. The hole will be filled and temporary pavement repairs will be made this afternoon. Douglas is expected to reopen to traffic by Saturday morning.
City crews will repair the planters, light posts and sidewalks damaged by the break. Permanent pavement repairs to the street will be made next spring.
The cause of the break was a connection failure between a 12-inch main and a 24-inch main. Cost for repairs has not been determined at this time.
