Library's Fall Children's Events Announced

Celebrations Include Hispanic Heritage, Kansas Reads to Preschoolers

All events are free. Accommodations for those with special needs are available. Please request at (316) 261-8500 a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the event. Seating is limited. Central Library can accommodate larger groups; call 261-8512 for information. Thanks to the City of Wichita, the Wichita Public Library Foundation, the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Friends of the Wichita Public Library for making many of these events possible. Do It Like Diego
Diego Rivera is one of the world’s most famous artists. Come and learn how he created such masterpieces and then help create a mural like Diego’s. For children aged 9-11. Part of the Library’s Hispanic Heritage Celebration. (60 minutes)

Fun with Spanish: Animals
Children will have fun learning more about animals through this story and language program from Spanish Horizons. Children will listen to the story "Oso pardo, oso pardo, ¿qué ves?" ("Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?") and do activities related to the story. Stuffed Animal Sleepover
Wear your PJs and bring a stuffed animal to our storytime. Children ages 3-8 will make picture frames to hold a photograph of their animals’ crazy overnight adventure. Leave the animals to spend the night at the library, then return to see the fun they had! Animals and pictures will be available for pick-up for one week. (45 minutes)
