The members of Barrage can easily be described as the rock stars of the string world. Their stop in Wichita is part of a “Soundtrack of the World” tour that includes shows at high schools around the country to excite the next generation of musicians. Through Barrage’s String Education Program, orchestra students from Wichita Southeast and Derby High Schools and their feeder schools will be performing on stage with the group. Southeast is scheduled for Tuesday’s performance; Derby on Wednesday.
Barrage is an international, multi-talented string group made up of six violinists/vocalists, a drummer, bass player and guitarist. What sets Barrage apart from other musical groups is the high-octane energy its members show on stage and their ability to dance and perform breathtaking music from so many different musical genres, ranging from classical to middle European Gypsy to straight-out rock.
This will be Barrage’s third appearance in Wichita, having previously performed in 2010 and 2005.
