Saturday event scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m.
The Nomar International Market Plaza is holding a fall open house with a focus on individual and family health from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday on the plaza located at 21st & Broadway.
“We’re inviting the community to visit Wichita’s newest outdoor market,” said Council Member Janet Miller, whose district includes Nomar. “It’s a great opportunity to share Wichita’s latest destination and get a variety of good information and services related to health.”
The fall open house will feature a St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital booth; a “Nomar Walk the Block” guide to visit area businesses and meet business owners; a meet-and-greet with Nomar’s board of directors; free health screenings from Hunter Health Clinic; information about booth opportunities on the plaza and various booths from community resource agencies. Attendees can also register for a weekly “Nomar Walk” program.
There will also be an exercise class and children’s games. The first 25 attendees who complete a survey about community needs will be given a free gift certificate. Visitors can also meet Nomar’s newly hired Community Development Manager, Veronica Triana.
Nomar is a community revitalization project designed to transform a culturally vibrant neighborhood into an exciting destination of authentic food, shopping and fun in a safe, ethnically rich environment. Those interested in setting up an open air booth at the Nomar Plaza or learning more about the district should call 285-9433 or visit www.nomarcdc.com.
The open house is sponsored by the Nomar board of directors. Funding sources and supporters include the Wichita Community Foundation and the Kansas Health Foundation and the City of Wichita.
