WFD to host four-day information, education event at Marriott
The Wichita Fire Department will host fire chiefs from across the state during the 95th annual Kansas State Association of Fire Chief’s Conference Thursday through Sunday. About 100 chief officers are expected to attend the four-day educational and business conference at the Marriott Hotel, 9100 Corporate Hills. In addition, more than 25 fire and emergency services vendors will showcase their products during the conference.
Wichita Vice Mayor Lavonta Williams will offer an official welcome to the attendees. Fire Chief Robert McLemore, President of the Kansas State Association of Fire Chiefs, will address those in attendance including chief fire officers from most major cities within the state.
“We are excited to host such an elite group of fire service leaders,” Wichita Fire Chief Ronald D. Blackwell said. “Wichita is known for its great hospitality and we look forward to the opportunity to showcase Wichita and our fire department. We have an informative program for our guests and some of the nation’s top educators as our featured speakers.”

- Dr. John Belt, Ph. D. - Wichita State University, Distinguished Professor of Management-Ret.
- Billy D. Hayes – Columbia Southern University, Fire Leadership Institute
- Ron Dennis – Columbia Southern University, Special Programs
