Temporary water service is anticipated to be restored to businesses near 21st Street and Woodlawn by late afternoon, following damage to a 24-inch water main yesterday. A temporary repair has been made by City water utility crews, working together with the private company who caused the damage.
This is a temporary fix and may not restore full pressure. Parts for a permanent repair are expected to be delivered on Wednesday. Water staff will work with customers to determine the best possible time to make the permanent repair, which may require shutting service off for a short period.
Water service was restored on Monday evening to Galichia Heart Hospital and earlier today to all residential customers in the area.
Traffic continues to be impacted in the area. Northbound traffic on Woodlawn is being detoured just south of 21st Street North at Shadybrook (west of Woodlawn) or Rockhill (east of Woodlawn). Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes.
