CityArts’ high-tech space on display during open house Saturday
CityArts is hosting an open house from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday to showcase its new Digital Arts Studio and provide information about winter art classes that start the week of January 9. During the event, visitors may shoot short films, demo equipment and see examples of other students’ work. It is free and open to the public. CityArts is located at 334 N. Mead in Old Town Square.
The studio is equipped with 13 new PC computers loaded with the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection, a functioning sound stage with photo/video/audio production equipment, HD video projector, light table and green screen. Privately raised funds paid for the $30,000 cost of the equipment and software.
The Digital Arts Studio will provide PC-based instruction. Apple-based classes are offered through the independently operated Pixel Time Learning Center, which is housed on the third floor of CityArts. Pixel Time’s studio will also be open to the public during CityArts’ Open House.
Web Design for Artists, Multimedia Portfolio Creation, Digital Scrapbooks, Experimental Filmmaking, Social Media 101, Directing the Short Documentary and Introduction to Fine Art Photography are just a few of the digital arts classes included in CityArts’ winter session. A complete class list is available at www.WichitaArts.com under “Classes” or by calling 316-350-3245.
“This is a perfect opportunity for anyone who received a digital camera, design software or video camera for Christmas to stop by and see how CityArts expanded list of digital arts classes can help them create works of art with their devices,” said CityArts Executive Director Kay Blair.
