The Wichita City Council will hold a special meeting at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sedgwick County Emergency Operations Center, 714 N. Main. The purpose of the special meeting will be an executive session to participate in a disaster exercise.
The disaster exercise is design to help officials prepare for a catastrophic event. The exercise will be directed by Sedgwick County emergency management officials who designed it. The exercise will include discussions about how to protect critical, non-critical, culture, economic and other community assets during a crisis. Due to security issues at the facility and Wichita Police Department safety concerns the meeting is not open to the public or media.
Other City of Wichita officials and public safety administrators are scheduled to participate in a disaster exercise from 9 a.m. to noon today and from 2 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Sedgwick County Emergency Operations Center.
