New theater/concert series kicks off Friday at Cowtown

Old Cowtown Museum is broadening Wichitans' entertainment choices with the creation of a new theater/concert series titled “Empire House Live!” The series kicks off this Friday and Saturday with “An Evening of Burlesque.” Both shows begin at 8 p.m. in Cowtown’s Empire House Theater. Tickets are $15 in advance through WichitaTIX.com or $18 at the door. Cowtown is located at 1865 W. Museum Blvd.

“Last year we had two sold out burlesque shows and a melodrama performance in Empire House Theater that were a perfect fit for the venue’s intimate atmosphere,” said Cowtown Director David Flask. “‘Empire House Live!’ was created to give people even more opportunities to attend unique and flavorful shows that they can’t find anywhere else. You could say that Empire House Theater is Wichita’s newest weekend entertainment venue.”

The “Empire House Live!” lineup includes local, regional and national performers representing many genres (see schedule below). More shows will be added throughout the year and updated on www.OldCowtown.org.

Empire House Theater seats up to 150 people, meaning there isn’t a bad seat in the house. Concert and theatergoers will enjoy an up-close-and-personal experience with the performers. To find out more about the series and the Empire House Theater venue, contact Teddie Barlow at Cowtown, (316) 350-3321.
