Event returns to O.J. Watson Park
An Easter egg hunt for visually impaired children between ages 2 to 12 is scheduled from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at O.J. Watson Park, 3022 S. McLean Blvd.
The event allows visually impaired children to hunt for specially designed beeping eggs, which emit a high-pitched beeping noise similar to an alarm clock. With the assistance of staffers from Park & Recreation and co-sponsor AT&T Pioneers, children will locate eggs throughout the park and add them to their Easter baskets. When the children complete the hunt, they can exchange their beeping eggs for candy.
Other activities will include games, pony, rides, train rides, story time, snacks and a special visit from the Easter Bunny. Pre-registration is requested by contacting Jennea Noel at (316) 337-9244
The event, in its third year, returns after a one-year absence during a reorganization of the Park & Recreation department.
“Wichita Park & Recreation is very excited to partner once again with the AT&T Pioneers group to provide a special event like this one for special kids”, Karen Holmes, Superintendent of Recreation, said.
