Wichita Police Department officials said they completed their criminal investigation into an incident where an officer fired shots in the late hours of Sept. 4 near 2800 W. Pawnee. On Sept. 14, the officer involved was suspended as a result of the investigation.
“The initial investigation revealed some concerns,” Chief Norman Williams said.
The completed criminal investigation will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney by the end of the week.
Also, Chief Williams said the department’s Professional Standards Bureau has initiated an administrative investigation of the incident.
According to department policy, WPD is not releasing additional information at this time.
