The city of Wichita and Sedgwick County have joined their respective central inspection and code enforcement departments to form the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD). After a rigorous search, Thomas Stolz has been named the department’s director.
“There was a significant amount of work that went into the hiring process to assure that we brought the right skills and leadership to this new department and to the stakeholders,” said County Manager William Buchanan. “We engaged a number of business and organizational leaders in the hiring process, and they were all very impressed with the problem-solving approach that Mr. Stoltz brings to the table through his years of community law enforcement. We believe Mr. Stolz will help us move this new organization forward in serving the citizens of Wichita and Sedgwick County.”
Stolz comes into this position following a long career with the Wichita Police Department. He holds a bachelor’s degree in medical biology from Newman University and a master’s degree in administration of justice from Wichita State University.
Stolz will assume his new role as director of the MABCD beginning November 13, 2012 and will report to Sedgwick County Assistant Manager Ron Holt.
