Preservation, energy and sustainability conference includes Walmart

The fifth annual GreenWichita Conference returns on Friday, Jan. 25, to Century II Convention Center. The conference, which features energy and sustainability initiatives for regional businesses, will feature the latest projects that agency and business leaders are incorporating to preserve the environment and historical buildings while saving operating and capital costs.

The luncheon will feature Jeff Rice, the Senior Sustainability Director for Walmart. He will discuss collaborating with suppliers to build a sustainable goods industry. Wichita State University officials will present on facility-energy efficiency and a cost-savings case studies. Environ, a national environmental consulting firm, will present on energy management and sustainability initiatives. Afternoon break-out sessions will feature two panel discussions on:

The City of Wichita’s Ozone Advance Program, with local experts discussing the collaborative efforts taken by the Environmental Protection Agency, states, local governments, and local businesses to encourage emission reductions in ozone attainment areas; The Wichita Downtown Development Corp.’s historical preservation projects, featuring the Lux, The Ambassador and the Drury Inn.
