The Fountains at WaterWalk attraction is resuming its regular summer/fall schedule beginning today, Aug. 14. Three shows will take place at 12:30, 8 and 9 p.m. daily through the end of October. The Fountains at WaterWalk are located at 605 N. Wichita Street, east of Gander Mountain.
The fountains, designed to support aesthetics and quality of life in the core area and encourage economic development near the riverfront, were running on a limited schedule due to an extended drought. City officials decided this week to resume the fountains’ normal operating hours after weather conditions improved. City officials said they are in discussion with WaterWalk developers to explore use of a well as a potential long-term water source for the Fountains at WaterWalk.
The Fountains at WaterWalk are 150-feet long and have more than 1,200 custom designed and patented nozzles. Each 15 to 20-minute show incorporates music, lights and water in a choreographed display. Music alternates between different genres, including country, classic rock, classical and ’80s rock. The regular fountain season runs April through October. The fountains do not operate when winds exceed 15 mph in an attempt to conserve water.
